Making of a glass Painting – a few simple steps and easy to follow techniques

As glass painting is a unique art form everyone will be interested in doing it. To make it more simple, painting kits are available every where. The best thing that you can do to avoid confusion is to first select the paints before you buy a painting kit. It is better to use water-based paints in the beginning as it is washable and easy to handle. To start with what you have to do is to clean the glass thoroughly. If you are planning to fire the glass after painting then you can start painting on the smooth surface. But if it is difficult to fire the glass then you have to make the glass surface rough by applying sand paper because paint will not stick on the smooth surface without firing. Now it is time to plan your design. For that first trace the outline in a piece of paper and place it below the glass perfectly. If you are very poor in outlining you can do the same with the help of a carbon paper. Now you can start painting the outline in the glass. After allowing the outline to dry, you can start filling the outlines with colors. Then allow it to dry either in air or by firing. If you are drying the painting in the air it will take at least 24 hours. And if you are doing it in an oven, first keep the painting in a cool oven and bake it in the oven in a preheated temperature of 160 degree centigrade for 45 minutes. After that, allow it to cool in the oven itself and then take the painting out. As per your imagination you can also use beads, sequence or stone so as to give more alluring look to your glass painting and make it rich and vibrant.
